Debian Linux

Debian Linux is the result of a volunteer effort to create a high-quality non-commercial Linux distribution. Most Linux distributions are developed by individuals or small, closed groups. Debian GNU/Linux is developed in the open, by many people.

Debian Association, Inc. (formerly known as the Debian Linux Association (DLA)) is an organization that has been formed to serve as the official maintainer and central supporter of Debian. Please note that Debian Association, Inc., while legally a business entity does not exist for profit's sake. Its primary objective is to advance the cause of free software by making a system based entirely upon free software available to everyone who wants it and by further developing and improving it.
